The SARChI Chair hosted a seminar where Dr Hamza Hamouchene presented his well-received book, "Dismantling Green Colonialism: Energy and Climate Justice in the Arab Region" (2023).

A few of our honours students recently visited the Strandfontein Birding Area and Rondevlei Nature Reserve. The trip provided a fitting conclusion to their elective course, which explored the complexity of nature-culture debates in times of planetary crisis.

Contested Karoo received a positive review by Maeder Osler. Osler founded TOVERVIEW in 2021, an operation that operates as a model for innovative approaches to rural communication by offering an autonomous viewpoint on life in the northern Karoo.
